What are they and what do they involve?

Outdoor activity venues can include a great many things, from relaxation to exhilarating sport! The outdoors includes anything not in a building; you can find activities such as nature trails, adventure playgrounds and parks/gardens outside!

What are the benefits?

Spending time outside is always beneficial, even if it’s just for the fresh air and a change in scenery! Participating in outdoor sport is fantastic for both physical and mental health, and learning about the environment and how to care for it is an important thing for everyone to learn about, regardless of age.

What students is it suitable for?

The outdoors is a great place for all students, so outdoor activity venues will entertain everyone; however, you should make sure that the location is suitable for the group! For example, older teenage students wont have much fun on an adventure playground designed for much smaller children!

Costs?

Outdoor venues will vary greatly in price, as some will be in completely free public areas while some need to charge entry fees; make sure to research this before you set off as you don’t want to surprised!

Safety Implications?

Younger children should always be carefully supervised when outdoors, especially in public areas!

We can cater for groups up to 100 onsite and we are fully operation throughout the year.

Usually most schools work with us to select either a half or a full day with activities from our multi-activity, then we can ensure a jam packed day for the kids that will leave them with a big smile on their faces! We can also run a host of other great activities on and off site!

Woodlands is located in the village of Glasbury on Wye, in the Welsh County of Powys. The listed, Regency building is set in ten acres of grounds overlooking the River Wye and the Black Mountains, within easy reach of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the limestone area to the south. Our courses make full use of this outstanding and spectacular area of natural beauty.

Tregoyd House is small and friendly, but with loads of space for activities. It’s a beautiful old mansion house (where Lord Hereford once lived) and the unique and private gardens and grounds once attracted wealthy Victorian visitors to sit and picnic by the stream.

Darley Barn Outdoor Centre is a purpose built outdoor activity centre, located at Darley Park, in the heart of the Derwent Mills World Heritage Site in Derby. It offers a wide range of outdoor activities including canoeing, orienteering, environmental and heritage pursuits.

There Base is in the heart of Brecon town centre and is the Home of Bikes and Hikes and the Brecon Barbarians Cycling Club. The Brecon Cycle Hub offers cyclist local trail information for all the cycle hubs in the Brecon Beacons; Sennybridge, Brecon, Talgarth, Tal-y-bont on Usk, Crickhowell and Abergavenny.

Burrs Activity Centre is situated in the award winning Burrs Country Park close to the centre of Bury, with the river Irwell, the East Lancashire railway, a newly developed Caravan Club site with 80 pitches, the Brown Cow Public House, a Heritage Trail and the activity centre, all on site, it really is worth a visit.

Paul is an active mountaineer, walking, mountain biking and climbing whenever possible. For over fifteen years now he has been involved in Outdoor Education, delivering a wide range of experiences and challenges for schools, as well as many other organisations and groups,  of all ages, ability and backgrounds. 

Unique adventure playground and assault course, plus a stunning indoor play facility, scenic active adventure trail, fishing, cycle hire, plus big sand and water play, with small stream and water wheels, plus a climbing tower and giant slide.

Andy has over twenty years of experience as a teacher and coach of physical and outdoor education and can offer a wealth of helpful hints and tips to beginners and the elite. He also brings to the company a great enthusiasm for the outdoors and for working with people who want to enjoy the outdoors.

The 11 acre sailing lake is used for the centre’s dinghy, kayak, windsurfing and powerboat courses, and the waters used for angling are well stocked. For the jogging enthusiast, keeping fit is a pleasure on the Trim Track, which is situated within the park.

If you’re interested in exciting adventurous activities both on and off the water look no further, located in the Crosby Coastal Park with access to a 70 acre lake, Crosby Lakeside is ideal for taking you first trip on the water or practicing your skills.

As well as a comprehensive annual activity programme, majoring upon all aspects of the development of canoe sport, the aim is to provide a varied range of sporting activities both on and off site. This will include the provision of curricular and extra curricular adventurous activities for schools and colleges focussing upon: Safety, Fun and Learning.

Rutland Sailing School specialises in dinghy and catamaran sailing which means we are able to offer the best possible training and instruction. The professional staff, trained by the Royal Yachting Association offer everything from introductory sessions, to personal tuition sessions in your own boat.

We are a friendly dinghy sailing club offering club racing, open meetings, sail training for beginners and a wide range of social actvities.al activities

At Rye Watersports we have been teaching children and school groups since 1986. We are committed to encouraging children into all our watersports and provide Royal Yachting Association courses from age 8 upwards and our ‘Kids Camps’ for 7 to 12 yr olds.  BKSAKitesurfing lessons are for children from age 12 years.

TrekCo have been running courses for schools and colleges since 1989, and are the largest provider of outdoor education in the region with over 40 instructors. We specialise in outdoor educational days and residentials – offering year group camps, induction courses, activity days and skills courses.

The club also has boats in Newhaven Marina so is totally covered for all aspects of sailing and water sports activities. Come along and see what is happening.

Schoolboy Falls From 60ft Cliff on School Trip

A 15-year-old boy fell 60ft over the edge of a cliff whilst on a geography school trip, miraculously only suffering minor injuries.
