Wildlife Discovery Room

Located at Carsington Water Visitor Centre, the Wildlife Discovery Room and Wildlife Explorer's Outdoor Classroom provide plenty of opportunities for learning.

The Carsington Water education project partnership is a joint initiative in which Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Severn Trent Water are working together to provide an educational service for groups of all ages to inspire and educate about the natural world and our place in it.

The Wildlife Discovery Room at Carsington Water offers a range of hands-on activities in a fully equipped classroom, utilising the varied man-made and natural landscapes of the surrounding site. The Wildlife Explorer's Outdoor Classroom was opened in July 2013 and has a pond dipping platform and plenty of different habitats to be explored.

From EYFS to key stage 2 we offer activities including sensory walks, pond dipping, river studies and rocks and soils. For the full list of activities please see our website
