The Oxfordshire Museum

The Oxfordshire Museum

A wide range of natural and social history exhibits, the more exciting of which include the interactive dinosaur gallery and gardens, and the special family drop in sessions.

The museum’s attractively landscaped gardens are the ideal location for morning coffee, a light lunch or afternoon tea on the terrace or for just relaxing with children and friends. You can even see our Jurassic plants.

There is always something to delight from our carpet of early spring bulbs round the ancient chestnut tree in February to our annual summer exhibition of sculpture by local artists.

Our Galleries:

We have trails and fun packs to help kids through the not necessarily as exciting bits! Visit our new interactive dinosaur gallery, if you dare!

We have a range of dinosaur activities including 'feed the dinosaurs', magnetic dinosaur jigsaw, dinosaur puppet theatre, dressing up equipment, dinosaur fossils, facts and quiz, dinosaur DVD, wall murals and even an electronic moving eye. We also house the museum and dinosaur gardens, with fun and interesting features and plenty of room to picnic.

Family learning drop ins (including holographic magic and clever clogs dancing) are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school holidays. No need to book, just drop in anytime between 2pm and 4pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

History workshops for schools

Learning opportunities for adults and children at the Oxfordshire Museum - or at your school.

Schools can book a workshop at The Oxfordshire Museum or we can come to you. All workshops feature a range of practical, hands-on activities using a wide variety of artefacts and photographs.

Your workshop leader will run the session and provide all necessary materials. A detailed teacher’s pack is available for all sessions.
