Lynton and Barnstaple Railway

Opening in 1898, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in North Devon was considered one of the world's most famous and picturesque narrow-gauge railways. Despite its attraction, it closed in September 1935 because of declining passenger numbers.

After many years of closure, passengers can again travel in restored L&B carriages along a part of the original route above the Heddon Valley near Parracombe. Hauled by a period steam loco, visitors can experience a taste of what we intend to become: one of the ultimate heritage railway experiences of the world!

Steam trains run daily in the summer months.
