Llangorse Lake

Llangorse Lake

A wonderful place for watery fun

Llangorse Lake in the Brecon Beacons is one of the most mentioned sites in Welsh folklore. It is a site of international conservation importance.

Water-based Activities

We hire rowing and fishing boats on the lake, we also hire kayaks, canadian canoes, pedaloes and sailing dinghies. We have launching, mooring and storage facilities for boat owners whether your interests lie in water skiing, sailing or windsurfing.

To help Prevent Llangorse Lake becoming infected with Zebra Mussels and other alien species, which can cause extensive damage to boats and irreversible destruction of ecosystems any boat or equipment being brought to the lake should be decontaminated before arrival.Information on this procedure can be found on the Brecon Beacons Website and Cardiff Harbour Authority's website.

Information from Venue:

Did you know? The wooded island, called the Crannog, in the middle of the lake was made by hand in the 9th century and once housed a wooden royal palace. In 1925, archaeologists discovered a virtually complete dugout boat. Radiocarbon dating indicates that it originated from the 9th century.
