Dylan Thomas Centre

The Dylan Thomas Centre is a beautiful building in the Maritime Quarter near to Swansea's museums.

The interactive displays tell the story of the work, life and cultural context of one of the twentieth century’s most significant writers and poets, and the exhibition includes a learning space, activities for children, and a temporary exhibition area.

This most Welsh of poets and writers is famous for works such as Under Milk Wood, Fern Hill, The Hunchback in the Park and of course Do not go gentle into that good night. He is also famous for writing the collection of stories, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog.

2014 marked the centenary of Dylan Thomas' birth in Swansea and to celebrate the life and times of Swansea's most famous son, every year from late October to early November the centre is the focal point of celebrations for the well-established Dylan Thomas Festival, which runs from 27 October to 9 November (the dates of Dylan Thomas' birth and death).

In May 2014, we unveiled our brand new exhibition of never before seen notebooks that Dylan used during the 1930s. Visitors will get a glimpse into the poet's work and can even see a few extracts from his letters.
