Action Stations
Action Stations
Housed in the magnificent Boathouse 6, Action Stations offers a wide range of interactive displays and completes the Dockyard story by bringing visitors within reach of today's modern high-tech Royal Navy.
It even has the royal seal of approval from HRH the Duke of York, himself an ex-serving naval officer, who formally opened Action Stations in 2001. With a twinkle in his eye, Prince Andrew said of his visit... “I have spent a number of years in the Navy but I have never had so much fun in 20 minutes!"
Action Stations brings the modern Royal Navy to you, our visitors. Come and discover...
- A mixture of physical challenges, simulators and technological experiments. Battle with the Royal Marines, command a warship or fly a helicopter.
- One of the largest climbing towers in Europe.
- Why the moon affects the tides and discover the amazing Magic Planet© which can show moving global climate and temperature patterns around the Earth - and beyond.
- 27 exciting activities in the InterAction gallery bringing you an astronaut’s view of the world, the science behind propulsion and much more.
